Ayurvedic Movement Tips to Balance in the Spring Season
These movement tips for spring combat the qualities of heavy, slow, cool & wet weather which characterise the spring season.
Use these five key words to inspire and apply to your movement practice to help stay in balance this spring season ~ Kapha season! Great for those who have any personal practise - whether it be yoga or other movement or exercise routine.
I invite you to incorporate more of these energies into your practise!
1 ) ENERGISING
- bring a sense of energy and dynamic movement to shift stagnant and dull, lethargic energy, such as more energising forms of pranayama like kapalabhati (or running)
2 ) VIGOROUS
- repetition of practice or movements & commitment to daily movement routine is going to set yourself up best for the warmer months to come
3 ) STRENGTHENING
- practices that work to ground, strengthen and stabilise the joints are great for Kapha and the spring season, such as longer holds in yoga postures (or weights)
4 ) CHEST OPENING
- since there’s the tendency towards common cough and colds during spring, as well the “seat” of Kapha being the chest and heart space.. opening and breathing into your chest is especially indicated right now
5 ) WARMING
- movement which promotes heat and sweat is fantastic to help keep in balance and promote circulation and blood flow
